Marble

Marble is a metamorphic stone formed by the re-crystallization of limestone under the intense geological pressure and heat. This process creates stone with a very tight crystalline structure and small but definite porosity.

Marble can be of two types, one composed of calcite and the other of dolomite. Depending on its mineral composition it varies in colour from brilliant white through to black, and includes shades of blue-grey, red, yellow and green. Substances included in minor amounts during formation cause the veining, clouds, mottling and shadings in marble.

Natural marble has a wide range of colours, texture, crystals and various finishing techniques that allow it to dress every type of ambience.

Marble is an expressive material and by its various types can make your room space look sophisticated or simple, warm or cool, elegant or rustic, sumptuous or minimalist. The eternal life of marble is disconnected from fashion and enhances the beauty of your environment in the most natural way.

Marble flooring adds a rich, elegant touch to any space. Polished marble is usually preferred for formal style interiors and honed and tumbled marble is more suitable for contemporary interiors where a softer, warmer look is desired.

Marble tiles are used for entrances and bathrooms primarily. Polished marble scratches and stains easily and loses its polish if acids, such as wine and vinegar, are spilt on it. This rules it out for kitchens and dining areas.
